Theo Wolters was born in 1955 as the youngest child to a very large musical family. At a young age he started playing the trumpet with the local windband, of which his father was the conductor. He subsequently studied the trumpet at the Maastricht Conservatorium and graduated with a distinction.

During his studies he was first trumpet at the Overijssel Philharmonic Orchestra and the Essener Philharhomic Orchestra in Germany between 1975 and 1979.
Since 1979 he worked for the Amsterdam Royal Concertgebouw Orchestra until 2008. At the same time as pursuing his orchestra career he took conducting lessons from Pieter Stalmeier and Roberto Benzi.
About ouverture:
The 'starter' of the evening, chosen by Maestro Theo Wolters, was the ouverture of the famous opera buffa 'Cosi fan tutte' by W.A. Mozart.
The Dutch conductor elegantly brought out the playfulness and sparkly humor of this short masterpiece.

About Bruckner:
An extra feeling of contentment completed the evening for me, and that was to notice how Theo Wolters particularly made sure that the mosaic-like musical phrases do not disperse, as he thoughtfully pinned them together in a musically colourful garland.
