Max Bruch was born in 1838 in Cologne and became his education by Ferdinand Hiller. His unusual musical talent had attracted attention from an early age and, by 1852, the Rheinische Musikzeitung had written an article about the child prodigy. The Berlin Academy of Music appointed him Professor of Composition in 1891. At that time he ranked among the most performed composers since his sacred, as well as his choral work, matched the spirit of the times. |
